CHECKOUT-TRAINER 1.0
Which route on 96? Most charts name one but not why. This trainer works out every remaining score from 170 down to 41 under real throwing scatter and rates what a miss into a neighbouring bed leaves behind. Click the beds in the order you would throw them.
Play against the clock and collect points — or look up in peace which route pays off on which rest.
Trainer
A rest appears and you tap your route on the board — bed by bed, in throwing order. Afterwards you see how good your route was, and why.

HOW IT WORKS
Tap the beds in the order you would throw them — setup dart first, double last. The treble ring of the 16 is not the same as its single bed. On a phone, trebles, doubles and the bull respond more generously than they look.

Why our routes differ from other tables — and what sits behind the numbers.
1 · Why do checkout tables contradict each other?
Because most of them assume perfect throws. Under that assumption the only thing that counts is whether a combination adds up, and on almost every rest several of them do. Which one a table lists then comes down to the taste of whoever wrote it — and it is never explained.
This table works differently. Every throw scatters, and measurably so: we assume a standard deviation of 15 mm for a practised player and 24 mm for a beginner. For each route the model works through what happens when a dart misses — does it land in a neighbouring bed, is the remaining rest still checkable, or is the visit lost? That produces a check percentage, and the percentage decides the order.
On 96 both profiles get the same route, T20 D18 — but with a 7.7 % check rate for the practised player and 1.8 % for the beginner. Same route, very different expectation. That is the honest part: a route is only as good as the hand throwing it.
2 · What does double out mean, and what counts as a checkout?
A leg starts at 501 points and ends when a player reaches exactly zero — and the final dart has to land in a double: the outer ring, or the bullseye, which counts as double 25. That is the double-out rule, the standard at every major tournament and throughout league play.
Everything from 170 downwards that can be brought to zero with three darts is called a checkout or finish. Throw past zero, or leave exactly one, and it is a bust: the visit does not count and the rest you started the visit with stays on the board. This is precisely why the route matters and not just the arithmetic — a route that leaves an odd rest after a miss costs you the whole visit.
3 · What is the highest checkout — and which rests cannot be finished at all?
The highest rest that three darts can finish is 170: T20, T20, bullseye. The model gives a practised player 0.2 % for it — roughly one attempt in five hundred. With two darts the ceiling is 110 (T20, bullseye), with a single dart it is 50 (bullseye).
Seven rests below 170 cannot be finished with three darts at all: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159. Standing on one of those, you do not play for the finish — you set yourself up a rest that works next visit. That is also why the route table has 123 rows and not 130.
4 · Why does 88 get T16 D20 with two darts but T20 D14 with three?
Both routes add up, and the difference is not geometric: the scatter is the same in every direction, so T16 and T20 are equally hard to hit.
Two things tip the balance. First, the model rates doubles by familiarity — D20 and D16 count as safe, D14 much less so, because it is played far less often. With only two darts that weighs heavily: a miss leaves almost no room. Second, three darts change the arithmetic. A missed T20 still leaves 68 with two darts in hand, and 68 is a comfortable place to be. The riskier first dart pays off once a mistake no longer costs the leg.
One thing the model does not know: that the 20 gets practised far more than the 16 in real life. There is no familiarity bonus for trebles. If you never throw at the 16, read the ranking with that in mind.
